SpeakPad does not collect, sell, or share personal data. Boards, photos, and usage data stay on your device unless you choose backup to your personal iCloud account.
SpeakPad contains:
All data, including the child's name, communication boards, vocabulary items, and settings, is stored on your device by default using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you enable iCloud backup, selected data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.
SpeakPad offers two backup methods:
.speakpad backup file and share it via AirDrop, the Files app, email, or any method you choose. We never see or have access to your backup files.SpeakPad uses Apple's built-in text-to-speech engine (AVSpeechSynthesizer), which runs entirely on-device. No speech data is sent to any server.
SpeakPad is designed for children and complies with Apple's Kids Category guidelines. We do not collect any data from children or anyone else. There are no external links, advertisements, or in-app purchases accessible to children. Caregiver settings are protected behind a parental gate.
SpeakPad uses no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. Optional iCloud backup and the caregiver-only tip jar use Apple's platform services.
The app and this website are separate. The app sends nothing anywhere. This website counts which pages get read and which support answers get opened, so we know what to write next. It records:
Page views come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, run by the company that hosts this site. The rest is counted by the site itself. Either way there are no cookies, no advertising, and no third-party trackers, which is why there is no cookie banner. We do not store IP addresses, and nothing links one visit to another or to a device, so the numbers are totals that cannot be traced back to a person. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the site counts nothing at all.
SpeakPad includes the Mulberry Symbol Set (CC BY-SA 4.0) and ARASAAC symbols (© Government of Aragon, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). All symbols are bundled within the app and are not downloaded from the internet.
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page with the new date. Given our commitment to zero data collection, we do not anticipate changes.
